Lions and Tigers and Salesmen, OH MY!

Last night I had just sat down to relax in my favorite comfy chair when the doorbell rang. Much to my surpise there was an ADT representatve standing there. Now imagine this for a moment...we ARE a security alarm company and my house is decked out with yard signs and window decals announcing to would-be criminals (and ADT salespeople) that I am protected by Security Plus Electrical. Anyway, I sent the gentleman on his way and paused to think about all the differnt sales techniques people have to get your business. Case in point, I have been receiving calls daily from a number I did not recognize. When I would pick up the phone there would be complete silence. Eventually I started ignoring the number, but today I decided to pick it up again (I mean it could have been Publishers Clearing House calling to tell me I had won $1M dollars!). Anyway, after a moment of silence, a guy came on the line and asked me if I would be interested in a free alarm system in exchange for putting a sign in my yard. When I asked him how much it would cost me he rudely informed me his job was not to discuss pricing but to find out if I was interested and then he hung up on me! Would YOU want to do business with someone like that?
We here at Security Plus use just plain old word of mouth along with some unobtrusive web and paper advertising to tell folks about our company.
